Advertisements for various financial payments often appear in the online space, but they may be hiding fraudsters.
This is reported by Rivne24
A 35-year-old resident of the Rivne region became a victim of fraud after receiving a message in a messenger, allegedly sent by a bank representative. It stated that he was entitled to receive 1,500 hryvnias as “spring assistance from the President.”
To claim this money, the man followed a link and entered his bank card details. As a result, about 50,000 hryvnias disappeared from his account.
The Rivne police warns:
- “Spring assistance” is automatically credited to certain categories of citizens without any requests;
- Never enter your card number, expiration date, and CVV code on third-party websites;
- Check information about payments only on the official websites of government agencies or in the “Diia” app;
- Do not follow links received in private messages from banks or government institutions.
