The farewell for Andriy Melnyk and Dmytro Rozhkov will take place on Wednesday, April 22, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. The servicemen will be buried at the Heroes’ Alley in the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.

Andriy Melnyk, born on February 19, 1983, in Rivne, attended secondary school No. 12 and later trained as an auto mechanic at a local vocational school.
After completing his mandatory military service, he worked in his specialty at the “Kamaz-Trans-Service” company and later in a carpentry workshop. In August 2023, Andriy voluntarily took up the defense of his homeland.
“Before the war, Andriy was passionate about carpentry – he had golden hands and a big heart. He always found kind words for everyone and never turned away from someone else’s trouble. For us, he was a pillar and a source of pride. Unfortunately, after his first combat mission, during an assault on enemy positions, Andriy went missing,” said the defender’s father.
Unfortunately, 41-year-old soldier Andriy Melnyk was killed on October 18, 2024, while performing a combat mission in Luhansk region. For a long time, he was considered missing in action – only recently was his body identified and returned to his family for a dignified burial.
The defender is survived by his father and brother.
Dmytro Rozhkov was born on April 23, 1985, in the city of Pervomaisk, Luhansk region. He attended a local school and later earned a degree in psychology from the Kharkiv Aviation Institute.
After his studies, Dmytro worked in his field in Kharkiv. In 2014, he moved to Rivne with his wife. In February 2025, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“He was a deeply religious and devout person who adhered to Christian values. He sincerely helped people, supported those in need, and lived with a profound sense of service to God and his neighbors,” said the defender’s wife.
Unfortunately, 40-year-old soldier Dmytro Rozhkov passed away on April 15, 2026, in a hospital in the city of Konotop, Sumy region, after sustaining gunshot wounds. Dmytro is survived by his wife, two children, and father.
