Rivne Region Honors the Memory of Two Defenders Missing in Action

The Rivne region said goodbye to Mykola Bohuta and Oleksiy Shcherban.

Mykola Bohuta, born on December 16, 1981, lived in the village of Puhachivka in the Mlyniv community. He was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2022 and served as a senior rifleman in a motorized infantry unit, achieving the rank of sergeant. Mykola gave his life for the freedom of Ukraine, going missing on December 20, 2023, during combat operations near the village of Bohdanivka in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. Unfortunately, in May 2026, DNA testing confirmed his death.

Oleksiy Shcherban, born on August 2, 1988, in the village of Karpylivka in the Klesiv community, was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in June 2024. He served in the 120th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. Unfortunately, on August 15, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near a settlement in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, Oleksiy went missing. As with Mykola, DNA testing confirmed the death of this defender as well.
