The Rivne District Court has made a ruling regarding a young resident of Zaporizhzhia who attempted to organize a terrorist attack in Rivne.
This is reported by Rivne24
The 17-year-old boy planted explosives in a military service vehicle, planning for the Russians to activate it remotely. For this criminal act, he has been sentenced to over 5 years of imprisonment.
According to the verdict published on March 25, Russian special services recruited the teenager in early July 2025 while he was looking for easy money in Telegram channels. After that, he arrived in Rivne, renting an apartment with money he received from a Russian handler. Subsequently, the boy received the coordinates of a stash containing explosives.
On July 10, he broke into a parking lot near the village of Karayevychi, where he placed a backpack with explosives in the cabin of a Peugeot, positioning it between the driver’s and passenger’s seats. The boy also set up a camera for live streaming for his Russian clients. After completing the task, he returned to the rented apartment, where he was arrested by law enforcement officers.
The investigation established that the teenager carried out all the actions necessary to complete the crime. However, the terrorist attack did not occur due to reasons beyond his control — the explosive device turned out to be a simulation.
In court, the minor admitted his guilt, stating that he agreed to the easy money. For completing the task, he was promised 3 thousand dollars, of which he received 8 thousand hryvnias as an advance.
Judge Serhiy Sydorenko found the boy guilty under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 258 (attempted terrorist act), and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of explosive devices), sentencing him to 5 years and 1 month of imprisonment. He will also be required to pay over 22 thousand hryvnias in procedural costs. The verdict may still be appealed.
