Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations have completed the pre-trial investigation regarding the former head of the Rivne Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.

This is reported by Rivne24

According to the investigation data, in 2023, 16 all-wheel-drive pickups were purchased for the needs of this center using state budget funds, totaling over 14 million hryvnias.

When signing the documents, the official did not verify the components of the price, which led to additional costs being included in the price of the vehicles, such as taxes, salaries, and transportation. This resulted in an overpayment by the state amounting to nearly 900 thousand hryvnias.

The total amount of damages caused to the state is approximately 1 million hryvnias.

According to the court’s decision, the property and bank accounts of the accused have been seized to ensure compensation for the damages incurred.

This is already the third criminal proceeding against this official. Previously, investigation materials regarding the beating of a subordinate, false declaration, and obstruction of the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were submitted to the court.

The former head is charged with a crime under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — negligent attitude to service, which led to severe consequences in a state of martial law.

The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years.

The procedural leadership in the case is carried out by the Rivne Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region.
