Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations have completed the pre-trial investigation regarding the acting director of the National Nature Park ‘Puscha Radzivila’ in the Rivne region.

The official is charged with negligence that led to the illegal felling of nearly 300 trees in the Zhytomyr region, causing damages to the state exceeding 2.4 million hryvnias.
At the time of the offense, the man held the position of a forest master at the Rudnyansky Forestry of the State Enterprise ‘Olevsk Forestry’. For almost two years, he failed to exercise proper control over the entrusted territory, not responding to illegal logging activities. This facilitated the actions of illegal loggers who cut down oaks, pines, and birches.
The indictment has already been submitted to the court. The accused does not admit his guilt. The issue of compensation for the damages caused will be resolved by the court.
The manager has been charged under part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (negligence resulting in severe consequences). The sanction of this article provides for a punishment of up to 5 years of imprisonment with the possibility of deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, as well as the imposition of a fine.
