A 45-year-old man has been detained in the Rivne region on suspicion of illegal handling of weapons.

On May 29, around 08:35, the police received a report that a man was carrying a grenade near a store in the village of Vysotsk in the Sarny district.
Officers from the patrol police response sector urgently arrived at the scene. Law enforcement took measures to prevent aggression from the suspect and ensured public order was maintained.
During a preliminary check, a combat grenade “F-1” was found on the detained individual. Additionally, during investigative actions at the address of his acquaintance, the police seized a postal package that the man had sent about a year ago along with personal belongings, which contained two more “F-1” grenades.
Explosive ordnance disposal specialists from the Rivne police successfully neutralized the ammunition, rendered it safe, and seized it.
The investigator has opened a criminal proceeding under part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning illegal handling of weapons and explosives. The seized ammunition has been sent for examination.
Currently, the issue of notifying the man of suspicion and selecting a preventive measure is being resolved. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
