Rivne to Bid Farewell to Fallen Defender Ihor Kozodiy

Ihor Kozodiy, born on May 7, 1990, in Rivne, obtained his education in “Construction and Architecture” at the National University of Water Management and Nature Use after attending School No. 4.

In his career, he worked as a construction engineer in various companies. During the full-scale invasion by Russia, he joined the territorial defense in Rivne.

In October 2022, Ihor joined the 23rd Engineer Positioning Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“His comrades knew Ihor as a sincere, kind, and open person, someone you could always rely on. He was respected for his dedication, strength of spirit, and humanity. Ihor was the best father and a loving husband; he did everything for the well-being of his family. His mother raised him alone, and for her, he was always the greatest pride and the best son,” said the Defender’s wife.

During his service, Ihor Kozodiy received the awards “Cross of Honor” and “Reliable Protection in Battle.”

Unfortunately, the 35-year-old senior lieutenant was killed on March 9, 2026, while performing a combat mission in the Kharkiv region. Ihor is survived by his wife, two daughters, and his mother.

The farewell to Ihor Kozodiy will take place on Friday, March 13, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Greek Catholic Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The serviceman will be buried at the Heroes’ Alley of the “Tynne” cemetery in the regional center.
