Accident on the Kyiv – Chop Highway: Car Overturned with Drunk Driver

A traffic accident occurred in Zdolbuniv on the M-06 Kyiv — Chop bypass road.

Police received reports of the accident that took place near the city of Zdolbuniv. At the scene, law enforcement officials determined that a 35-year-old driver failed to maintain a safe speed, resulting in a loss of control, veering off into a ditch, and overturning. The vehicle sustained significant mechanical damage; however, fortunately, the driver and passengers were unharmed.

During communication with the driver, police noticed signs of alcohol intoxication and suggested he undergo a breathalyzer test. The result was positive — 2.61 promille.

Administrative materials were drawn up against the driver for the following articles:

  • Art. 124 (Violation of traffic rules leading to an accident) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses;
  • Part 1 of Art. 130 (Driving under the influence) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses;
  • Part 1 of Art. 126 (Driver did not have an insurance policy) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
