Based on evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police, two residents of Rivne region received actual prison sentences for a series of arsons of service vehicles of the Defense Forces.
This is reported by Rivne24
The offenders were detained in July 2024 during comprehensive measures in the Rivne region. It is known that both individuals already had criminal records for robberies and thefts.
According to the investigation, they received an offer from a curator in Russia via one of the Telegram channels to set fire to military vehicles for monetary reward.
The offenders managed to damage two service vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but they never received the promised money. After committing the crimes, they were detained “in hot pursuit” by law enforcement officers.
During searches, mobile phones containing evidence of their illegal activities were seized from the offenders.
Based on the materials from the SBU, the court found both guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations);
- Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional destruction or damage to property).
One of the convicted received 6 years in prison, while the other received 7 years.
