In Rivne Region, an Instructor Who Helped Mobilized Soldiers Escape Was Tried

The Kostiantyniv District Court found an instructor from a training battalion of one of the military units in Rivne guilty of organizing the escape of a cadet from the training ground for 2500 dollars. For his actions, the accused was fined 51 thousand hryvnias.

According to the verdict issued on May 18, in June 2025, Junior Sergeant Vasyl K., an instructor at the individual training school, agreed to organize the transportation of a cadet outside the military training ground. A relative of the mobilized soldier promised him 2500 dollars for this service.

To implement the plan, the military involved another instructor from the training platoon. On July 24, 2025, he used his own car to take the cadet outside the training ground, allowing him to escape.

During the hearing, the accused fully admitted his guilt, stating that his acquaintances had approached him for help. He mentioned that he never received the money and was detained in August 2025 at his place of service.

The court also took into account that the accused had previously participated in combat operations in Kherson, sustained a mine-explosive injury, has two minor children, and is positively characterized at his place of service.

The judge found the military guilty under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving unlawful benefits by a public official) and imposed a fine of 51 thousand hryvnias with a prohibition on holding managerial positions for one year. The verdict can still be appealed in the appellate court.

Additionally, it is noted that after the scheme was uncovered, the State Bureau of Investigation reported that a former law enforcement officer was involved in the illegal transportation of mobilized soldiers, who transported the escapees outside the region in his own vehicle.
