In Rivne Region, a military commander forced subordinates to repair his mother-in-law’s house

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) detained and notified the first deputy commander of the training center – the chief of staff of a military unit in Rivne Region, who organized evasion from service for his subordinates.

This is reported by Rivne24

Instead of fulfilling their official duties, a group of soldiers, at the direction of this official, repaired the house where he lives with his partner, who also serves in his military unit.

The renovation work began in the spring of 2025. The commander, in collusion with other officials of the military unit, organized a “workforce” to carry out these tasks.

The house actually belongs to the mother of the officer’s partner – it is a newly built structure with an area of about 120 sq. m, located in the village of Oleksandriya in the Rivne district.

By the time of the exposure, the soldiers, instead of serving in their respective units, had completely replaced the roof, performed concrete work, made landscaping changes, and purchased materials for building a fence. Despite the absence of the soldiers at their place of service, they were unjustifiably paid their salaries.

The SBI detained the officer and two of his subordinates who were carrying out the repair work.

The deputy commander of the training center is suspected of organizing evasion from service, while his two subordinates are suspected of evasion from service (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 4 of Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanctions of the articles provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years. A complete circle of officials who may be involved in the commission of the crime is being established, as well as the amount of damage caused to the state.
