Explosion in Rivne Region: One Person Dead, Another Injured

A 57-year-old man, having sustained burns to approximately 80% of his body, died in the hospital. A 28-year-old victim is currently in a medical facility with burns covering about 70%.

On December 10 at 12:20, the Rivne emergency service received a report of a fire that occurred in the village of Peretoky on Soborna Street, within the Holovyn territorial community of the Rivne district. A fire crew from the 1st State Fire and Rescue Post in the village of Derazhne, as well as two local fire teams from the villages of Zlazne and Zvizdivka, were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, rescuers learned that an explosion had occurred prior to their arrival. As a result of the incident, two men, born in 1968 and 1997, sustained severe burns. The victims were transported to the KP “ROKL named after Yu. Semenyuk” in serious condition in their own vehicle. Unfortunately, the man born in 1968, having sustained burns to about 80% of his body, died in the hospital. The man born in 1997 suffered burns covering approximately 70%.

There was a real threat of the flames spreading to two residential houses and an outdoor kitchen nearby. Rescuers, equipped with respiratory and vision protection gear, immediately deployed fire extinguishing agents and began to extinguish the fire.

Three fire tankers and six rescuers were involved in the firefighting efforts. Specialists are currently investigating the circumstances of the fire and assessing the damage caused.
