Pavlo Yaroslavovych Khorkolyuk, born on July 12, 1987, in Rivne, left a bright mark in the hearts of those who knew him. He studied at NVK No. 2 “School-Lyceum” and obtained higher education at the Stepan Demyanchuk International Economic and Humanitarian University.

Pavlo worked for many years as a private entrepreneur, engaging in trade with his mother. His passion for cars and mechanics was supported by his ability to repair and improve equipment on his own. He also actively helped stray animals, organizing collections of food and funds for animals affected by the hostilities.
Although Pavlo was not conscripted and had health issues that complicated service, he decided to defend Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale war. “I can’t just watch this; I have to go,” he said. After several unsuccessful attempts, he managed to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the district military enlistment office in June 2022.
Pavlo participated in battles on various fronts, including in Bashtanka, Kherson, Bakhmut, and Lyman, demonstrating courage and bravery throughout his three and a half years of service.
“The 58 days of extreme presence at the position were almost unbearable for him and for us, but he endured bravely. And when on August 24 he sent a brief message: ‘Hi. I’m out. I’ll call you’ — for me, it was a text of great maternal happiness and steel victories. But already on September 7, even without fully recovering, he had to go again and said: ‘Mom, there’s no one left, there’s no one left…’ With his inner strength, courage, endurance, awareness, heroism, and love for his son, family, and native land, he shielded us — with his body and great heart,” recalls his mother.
Comrades note that Pavlo always supported the team spirit, instilled faith in victory, and helped everyone around him. His presence made the situation less frightening, as he never allowed anyone to break down.
Unfortunately, on September 7, 2025, during a combat mission in the Donetsk direction, Senior Soldier Pavlo Khorkolyuk was killed.
Pavlo is survived by his mother, sister, and son Zakhar. The farewell to the defender will take place on Wednesday, September 17, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. The memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral, and the burial will take place at the Heroes’ Alley of the “Nove” cemetery.
