Farewell to Mykola Usenko: Defender of Ukraine from Rivne

Mykola Usenko, born on February 23, 1993, in Kerch, moved to Rivne after finishing school.

This is reported by Rivne24

He worked in construction, engaged in repair work, and also serviced cars at a technical service station. In the spring of 2024, Mykola Usenko voluntarily took up the defense of his homeland.

“He had a difficult childhood – he grew up in a troubled family. Mykola was motivated by the stories of a friend who had gone to war earlier and often spoke about his service. He too was inspired by the desire to be useful to Ukraine and to defend it. Mykola was a reliable friend, always ready to help and support. While on the front lines, he was injured but returned to his comrades,” said the Defender’s ex-wife.

Unfortunately, 33-year-old soldier Mykola Usenko was killed on April 7, 2026, while performing a combat mission in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Mykola’s relatives live in Russia, and his brother is fighting on the side of the Russian Federation. The only close person left to the Defender is his ex-wife.

Farewell to Mykola Usenko will take place on Friday, April 17, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral. The serviceman will be buried at the Heroes’ Alley of the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.
