A Man with Severe Burns Died in a Fire in the Rivne Region

On October 22 at 18:33, a report was received on the emergency line “101” about a fire at a private household in the village of Verbivka, Sarny district, on Vysotska Street.

A fire crew from the 14th State Fire and Rescue Unit in Dubrovytsia and the local fire brigade from the village of Vysotsk were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the rescuers found that the fire originated in one of the rooms of the residential building, and the flames were already spreading to the roof. Firefighting substances were immediately applied to extinguish the fire.

As a result of the fire, household items were destroyed, the roof and ceiling were damaged over an area of 10 m², as well as the walls and ceiling over an area of 16 m² in the room of the residential building.

Even before the rescuers arrived, local residents carried out a man born in 1967 from the house, who suffered burns to 80% of his body. He was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Dubrovytsia City Hospital, where he died the following morning.

Specialists are currently determining the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. Two fire trucks and ten rescuers were involved in the extinguishing efforts.
