On November 7, the police received a report from a 76-year-old resident of the village of Zdolbuny about a theft. During the night, an unknown person removed the doors, broke into her garage, and stole a welding machine and a bicycle.
Investigators quickly identified the suspect. He turned out to be a 36-year-old local resident, previously convicted of similar crimes. He was last sentenced in November 2024, but the man did not reform and committed a new offense while on probation.
The perpetrator, who confessed to the crime and handed over the stolen items to law enforcement, was arrested in accordance with the law.
The investigator informed him of the suspicion under part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft committed under martial law).
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of night house arrest.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have been sent to court.
The aggravating circumstance is the recidivism of the crime. No mitigating circumstances were established.
Recently, the court issued a sentence: 5 years and 3 months of imprisonment. The sentence has not yet taken legal effect, so it can be appealed within 30 days.
