After completing his education, he worked in the repair and construction field, engaging in tasks such as plastering and insulating walls and facades of buildings. In the summer of 2024, Mykhailo was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Defender’s brother shared: “He adapted well to service, never complained, and earned respect among his comrades and command. Mykhailo was fair, always helped others, while never compromising his principles and seeing every task through to the end. In his free time, he read a lot, loved to learn new things, and was intelligent and educated.”

Unfortunately, 39-year-old soldier Mykhailo Chaika was killed on December 7, 2024, while performing a combat mission in the Kursk region. For a long time, the fighter was considered missing in action; only recently was his body identified and returned to his family for a dignified burial.

The Defender is survived only by his brother.
