Oleksandr worked as a security guard at an oil depot in Klevan and then in the construction sector. In October 2024, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“He was polite, honest, and fair since childhood, helping the elderly and protecting the weak. Warm memories of Oleksandr remain with the neighbors: two cherry trees he planted in the yard serve as a reminder of him. He always cared for order, trimmed trees and bushes, and personally renovated the house. In his free time, he loved to paint – and he had a great talent for it,” said the Defender’s mother.
Unfortunately, 45-year-old soldier Oleksandr Yuriev was killed on December 20, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region. For a long time, he was considered missing, but recently his body was identified and returned to his family for a dignified burial.
The Defender is survived by a son, mother, sister, and nephews.
Farewell to Oleksandr Yuriev will take place on Tuesday, May 5, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral, and the serviceman will be buried at the Alley of Heroes in the ‘Nove’ cemetery in the regional center.
