In Rivne Region, Three Defenders of Ukraine Were Laid to Rest

A farewell ceremony was held in Rivne Region for three heroes who gave their lives for their homeland: Petro Melnyk from the Oleksandriia community, Vitalii Vartsabiuk from Korets, and Yaroslav Smolii from Volodymyrets.

Petro Melnyk, born on June 16, 1984, in the village of Kozlyn, was an active participant in combat operations during the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). In 2021, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and continued his service during the full-scale invasion. Unfortunately, the 41-year-old senior soldier was killed on February 27, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission in Kharkiv Region.

Vitalii Vartsabiuk, a resident of the city of Korets, was born on January 19, 1972. He took up the defense of Ukraine on March 27, 2025, and served in Dnipropetrovsk Region. On March 1 of this year, Sergeant Vartsabiuk sadly passed away unexpectedly.

Yaroslav Smolii, born in 1995, lived in Volodymyrets. He served as a drone operator in a military unit. Unfortunately, his life was cut short while performing a mission to protect one of the settlements in Dnipropetrovsk Region.
