The National Police have arrested a woman who carried out a terrorist attack in Lviv, resulting in the death of a police officer and injuries to 25 others.

The incident occurred today around 00:30 in the central part of Lviv.
As a result of the explosion, a 23-year-old police officer was killed, and 25 people sustained injuries of varying severity, including 11 hospitalized, among whom six law enforcement officers are in critical condition.
According to preliminary information, the explosions were caused by the detonation of homemade explosive devices that were placed in trash bins.
The investigation of the crime involved operatives and investigators from the Lviv police, criminal analysis staff, forensic experts, explosives technicians, dog handlers, and other specialized services. Law enforcement immediately launched a large-scale special operation.
As a result of joint operational measures, police officers, together with border guards from the 7th Border Guard Detachment, were able to locate and arrest the suspect in a controlled border area of the town of Staryi Sambir within a few hours.
The arrested individual turned out to be a 33-year-old resident of the Rivne region. Under the direction of a so-called “curator” from the Russian special services, she manufactured homemade explosive devices and placed them in predetermined locations.
The Security Service of Ukraine is conducting the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings.
The penalty for the most serious charge provides for life imprisonment.
