Employees of the National Nature Park “Derman-Ostroh” conducted traditional winter wildlife monitoring, analyzing their tracking activity.

Such monitoring is an important element of conservation activities, as it allows for the determination of species composition, population size, and territorial distribution of wild animals within the park.
The monitoring was conducted using a route method, which ensures the collection of the most accurate data on the presence and activity of animals. During the route surveys, conservationists recorded signs of life and movement of wildlife.
As a result of the monitoring, tracks of European roe deer, foxes, wild boars, squirrels, weasels, martens, and wolves were recorded. The routes also revealed feeding sites of roe deer, their trails and resting places, as well as areas of forest litter disturbed by wild boars.
The results obtained will be used for further monitoring of mammal populations and planning conservation measures aimed at preserving the biodiversity of the national nature park.
