The candidacy of Oleksandr Tymoshchuk, a defender from Rivne Region, has been submitted to the Rivne Regional Council for the new award – the ‘Klym Savur Cross’. The deputies will make a collective decision on December 19 during a session meeting.

Oleksandr Tymoshchuk is a colonel in the 1st Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. This 38-year-old defender participated in combat operations in Mariupol and the renowned battles for ‘Azovstal’. From May 2022 to August 2025, he was held captive by Russia, where he endured torture and lost 40 kilograms. Currently, the Hero is actively recovering from his experiences.
It is worth noting that the first laureate of the ‘Klym Savur Cross’ award was Lieutenant Colonel Valentyn Derelo of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recognized for his personal achievements in defending Ukraine and its territorial integrity, as well as for his significant contribution to the development of Rivne Region.
