In November of last year, a conflict arose between a taxi driver and a 25-year-old passenger in the village of Porozove due to the latter’s refusal to pay. The men exited the vehicle, both of them drew knives. The driver used a gas canister and stabbed the passenger in the back, after which he also injured the client’s dog and fled the scene.

The victim was hospitalized with a penetrating chest wound and a liver hematoma. Police officers who arrived at the scene urgently took the dog to a veterinary clinic, where it received the necessary assistance.

The investigator detained the 39-year-old resident of Rivne under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Following this, the prosecutor informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional severe bodily harm).

The court decided on a preventive measure in the form of detention, but later changed it to round-the-clock house arrest.

The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have been submitted to the court.
