Drunk Driver and His Aggressive Passenger Detained in Rivne

Late at night in Rivne, on Kulika and Hudacheka streets, police noticed a Tesla vehicle whose driver was violating the curfew.

This is reported by Rivne24

In response to the lawful demand from law enforcement officers to stop, issued through flashing lights and sirens, the driver did not react, sharply increased speed, and began to flee towards Dubenska Street. The police initiated a pursuit and relayed the information to other crews.

During the chase, the driver violated traffic rules, including passing a regulated pedestrian crossing on a red traffic light. The driver then entered residential areas, where he was stopped by the police.

After the stop, the driver and passenger attempted to escape, but the officers apprehended them.

While communicating with the 38-year-old driver, the patrol officers noticed signs of alcohol intoxication, but the man refused to undergo a sobriety test both at the stop and at the medical facility.

The officers prepared administrative materials against the driver:

  • under part 2 of Article 122 (Running a red traffic light) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses;
  • under part 1 of Article 130 (Driving under the influence or refusal to undergo a sobriety test) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses;
  • under part 1 of Article 122-2 (Failure to comply with a stop request) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

The 21-year-old passenger displayed aggression during his interaction with the police, engaged in hooligan behavior, and used obscene language. He did not respond to lawful demands to cease his misconduct, so the police detained him using handcuffs and prepared a report under Article 173 (Minor Hooliganism) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
