The first race for the Ukrainian team at the Winter Paralympics took place in the men’s sprint in the sitting class. A total of 28 athletes participated, including five representing Ukraine: Oleksandr Aleksyk, Pavlo Bal, Vasyl Kravchuk, Taras Rady, and Hryhoriy Shymko.

The athlete from Rivne Region, Hryhoriy Shymko, finished in 15th place with a time of 22 minutes and 48.9 seconds. His time lagged behind the winner by 2 minutes and 38.2 seconds.
The race was won by another Ukrainian athlete – Taras Rady, who impressively showcased his speed, crossing the finish line with a time of 19:55.5 minutes, ahead of all his competitors.
