IAEA Concerned About the Flight of 13 Drones Near Rivne Nuclear Power Plant

The Rivne Nuclear Power Plant reported to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about the flight of 13 Russian drones in its observation zone on the night of September 10.

This is reported by Rivne24

The Director General of the Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi expressed concern over the situation and called for maximum restraint in the vicinity of nuclear facilities. The organization reports.

This incident occurred a week after Rivne NPP staff heard military activity near their hotel, which had previously been rare.

Grossi noted that such military activity near nuclear facilities violates seven fundamental principles of nuclear safety during armed conflict, which he outlined in March 2022. In particular, he emphasized “Principle 1” regarding the physical integrity of nuclear facilities and “Principle 3” concerning the safety of maintenance personnel.
