The court will determine the treatment period for the 32-year-old man who was in a specialized facility at the time of the crime.

On March 8 of this year, the man used another patient’s phone to call the emergency hotline 102 and reported a bomb threat involving three shopping centers and one critical infrastructure facility in Rivne.
All emergency services promptly responded to the scene. However, during the inspection, no explosive devices were found.
The police quickly identified the perpetrator – a 32-year-old resident of Rivne.
Investigators informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime under part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to knowingly false reporting of a bomb threat.
According to the expert’s conclusion, at the time of the crime, the suspect was suffering from a mental illness, which impaired his awareness of his actions and prevented him from anticipating their consequences.
In this regard, the investigator, having coordinated his actions with the prosecutor’s office, submitted a motion to the court for the application of compulsory medical measures in the form of hospitalization to a specialized facility for the 32-year-old man.
