Kostopil bids farewell to defender Roman Sagaydakovsky

On Wednesday, April 29, the Kostopil community will say goodbye to its defender — 31-year-old Roman Sagaydakovsky.

Roman was born and raised in Kostopil, graduated from local school No. 6, and worked at various enterprises. On September 11, 2023, he received a summons, passed a medical commission, and was sent to a military training ground. After successfully completing basic training, he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade.

The serviceman served in various areas of the front, most recently in the Chornobayivka area of Kherson region. Roman did not sustain any injuries and visited his family twice a year during vacations, which he spent with his sister’s family.

In April, during his latest vacation, he purchased his own apartment, but lived in it for only one day.

On April 27, 2026, Roman Sagaydakovsky died of a heart attack in his new apartment.

The farewell will take place on Wednesday, April 29, according to the following schedule:

  • 10:30 — liturgy at home
  • 11:00 — funeral service at St. Michael’s Cathedral
  • 12:00 — citywide farewell at T. G. Shevchenko Square

Roman Sagaydakovsky will be buried at the “New” cemetery in Kostopil.
