The State Ecological Inspection of the Polissya District filed a lawsuit with the Mlyniv District Court of the Rivne Region to recover damages caused to the state due to serious violations of fishing regulations.
This is reported by Rivne24
The violation was detected on April 5, 2022, near the Ikva River in the village of Pekaliv, Dubno District, where a citizen illegally caught 141 river crawfish, significantly exceeding the daily limit of 30 specimens per person.
As a result, a criminal proceeding was opened under part 1 of Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which was later closed, transferring the materials to the State Ecological Inspection for determining administrative liability.
On February 26, 2024, the Mlyniv District Court found the man guilty of committing an administrative offense under part 4 of Article 85 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses and imposed a fine of 340 hryvnias, which was paid voluntarily.
Additionally, the State Ecological Inspection of the Polissya District calculated the damage caused to the state due to the illegal catch of aquatic biological resources according to the rates approved by the resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The total amount of damages was 369,852 hryvnias.
Since the specified amount was not voluntarily compensated, the Inspection filed a lawsuit to the court for its recovery. If the lawsuit is granted, the funds will be credited to the special fund of the Mlyniv settlement territorial community budget and used for environmental protection measures.
