A Man in Rivne Region to Be Tried for Illegal Storage of Amber

The case of a resident of Rokytne District has been referred to court on charges of illegal acquisition and storage of amber, the origin of which lacks supporting documents. This offense is classified under Part 2 of Article 240-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was revealed that the accused had been storing a unique piece of raw amber weighing 1.7 kg at his home without any permits. Its estimated value is approximately 10,000 US dollars.

During a search, law enforcement officers discovered that the man had attempted to conceal this large piece under his outer clothing, but his plan failed, and the police quickly uncovered the illegal find.

The seized amber is an extremely rare specimen with high natural and collectible value, as similar examples occur very infrequently.

According to the sanctions of the article, the punishment for this offense includes imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years with confiscation of property.
