A man has received a life sentence for raping a 13-year-old girl from Rivne region.

On September 26, 2023, the police received a report from the child’s mother, who stated that her daughter was missing. The police quickly established that the girl was in an apartment on Dvoretska Street in Rivne with a 38-year-old resident of Cherkasy region.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the man had been communicating with the girl for three months via the Telegram messenger, sending her intimate messages and exposing his genitals during video calls.
When the girl agreed to meet, the perpetrator traveled to Rivne and rented an apartment. On the day of the crime, knowing the victim’s age, he raped her.
Additionally, pornographic materials involving the child were found on the arrested man’s phone.
The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and was charged with several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including rape and possession of child pornography.
The court chose to remand him in custody, where he remains to this day.
Recently, the court issued a verdict, sentencing the perpetrator to life imprisonment. The verdict has not yet taken legal effect and can be appealed within 30 days.
