On May 8, a solemn unveiling of a memorial plaque in honor of the graduate Andriy Karas, who died for the freedom of Ukraine, took place at the walls of Gymnasium No. 8 in Kostopol.

Attendees included the relatives of the fallen, local residents, students, and teachers of the educational institution.
Andriy Karas, who served as a drone operator in the reconnaissance and adjustment unit, died in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. For his courage and dedication to Ukraine, he was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
This memorial plaque is the fifth to be installed on the walls of the gymnasium, where the memory of other fallen defenders of Ukraine has already been honored: Andriy Levchuk, Ruslan Salivonchik, Vadym Plyushch, and Andriy Petryk.
