The Victims’ Lawyer Discusses the Incident

Lawyer Tetiana Bidyuk reported that on January 27 at approximately 4:00 PM, her client and his family became victims of unlawful actions by law enforcement. She claims that her client’s vehicle was blocked by military vehicles from the TCC and SP, after which the police attempted to force the man to leave the car without proper grounds.

“The police did not respond to our requests. We waited for about an hour for my client to exit the vehicle, even though he was not wanted. Upon arriving at the scene, I was informed of suspicions of drug intoxication, but tests showed that he was completely sober,” Bidyuk noted.

The lawyer also described the brutal arrest of her client, during which he sustained bodily injuries. “When we left the hospital, we were attacked by the TOR officers. They threw my client to the ground, and it was a real ‘mess’,” she added.

The Patrol Police’s Version

Ivanna Loyko, spokesperson for the Rivne Patrol Police, confirmed that the incident occurred on January 27 on Dubenska Street. She explained that at that time, the patrol officers noticed a gathering of people whose behavior raised suspicion. When one of the men began to flee, the police decided to apprehend him.

“During the arrest, other citizens attempted to interfere with the patrol officers, complicating the situation. The man being arrested already had legal issues for driving under the influence of drugs,” Loyko stated.

The police also denied information about a traffic accident involving a service vehicle and a child. “This information is not true. There were no children at the scene,” the spokesperson emphasized.

Lawyer Bidyuk demanded the release of video recordings of the incident for investigation purposes. She prepared complaints to the DBR requesting an assessment of the law enforcement officers’ actions. Eyewitnesses also expressed their outrage, describing the incident as violence and abuse of power.
