Oleg Shandruk evaluates the season of Rivne’s Veres as “satisfactory”

The head coach of Rivne’s football club Veres, Oleg Shandruk, summed up the final match of the season.

In his analysis, he noted that the team approached the game in good spirits and with maximum effort. “We prepared for this scenario, realizing that we would have to play a lot without the ball. The level of the Metalist 1925 team, with all due respect, is somewhat higher, and that was obvious. We needed to endure and wait for our chances in counterattacks,” Shandruk commented.

The coach also spoke about the episode with the conceded goal: “Was there a foul at that moment? I can’t comment, as I haven’t reviewed the situation myself, so I don’t want to be incompetent.”

Oleg Shandruk also touched on the debut of Dmytro Murashko in the starting lineup, noting that the player still has a valid contract with the club for the next season. “We communicated, and the minutes he received are a signal from the coaching staff. We count on him, are ready to work with him, and provide opportunities for development. His performance can be rated as good. Probably, if he had scored a goal, I could say it was a great match. But, frankly, it was quite a quality debut,” the coach emphasized.

Shandruk confirmed the intention to involve young players in the team: “Oleksandr Kharechko, Ivan Sanotsky, and others also deserve their debuts in the UPL. There will be training camps, and they will have the opportunity to show themselves.” The coach also congratulated the U19 team, noting that it was a historic season for the youth, who deserve attention. However, he emphasized that the future in the main team will depend on their progress.

Regarding the overall assessment of the season, Shandruk noted: “It will be rated as ‘satisfactory’. We did not accomplish the maximum task. The team remained in the UPL, but we all need to be more ambitious, both the coaching staff and the players.”
