Poland Received Permission for the Exhumation of Victims of the Volhynia Tragedy in Uhly

The Polish side has received permission to conduct search operations in the village of Uhly in Rivne Oblast. This was announced by the Ukrainian Ambassador to the Republic of Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.

This is reported by Rivne24

Vasyl Bodnar noted:

“I have just signed a note transferring the permission from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine to the Polish side for conducting search operations in the village of Uhly, Rivne Oblast. This permission was issued in response to a request from Karolina Romanowska. The Ukrainian side invites the relevant representatives of the Polish side to participate in the relevant work on site.”

We also remind that the head of the “Polish-Ukrainian Reconciliation” society, Karolina Romanowska, in 2024, addressed the Ukrainian authorities with a formal request for conducting search and exhumation work in the village of Uhly.

In April of this year, she reported that Ukraine had already given consent for search operations related to Polish victims of the Volhynia tragedy in this locality.

At the beginning of this month, Vasyl Bodnar also stated that Ukraine would soon issue new permits for the search and exhumation of victims of the Volhynia tragedy.

This concerns the issuance of permits for conducting search and exhumation work in localities such as Huta Peniacka in Lviv Oblast and Uhly in Rivne Oblast.
