Poland to Begin Search for Victims of the Volhynia Tragedy in Rivne Region

The Polish Minister of Culture, Marta Cienkowska, announced the start of search operations for the victims of the Volhynia tragedy in the village of Uhly in the Rivne region during her visit to Mostyska in the Lviv region, where the reburial of Polish soldiers who died in 1939 is taking place.

Cienkowska noted that the Ukrainian authorities have granted the necessary permission to carry out these operations. She also highlighted the positive cooperation between Poland and Ukraine on issues of searches and exhumations.

The Polish side plans to conduct preliminary reconnaissance of the area by the end of this year or early next year, and to move on to the main phase of work in the spring.
