The investigator of the investigative department of the National Police has completed the pre-trial investigation. Despite his sincere remorse, the man faces a prison sentence of three to eight years.

The accident occurred on February 23, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM on the Kyiv-Kovel-Yahodin highway near the village of Dert.
Police established that a “Renault Kangoo” was making a left turn from a secondary dirt road when it was struck by a “Volkswagen Touareg” driven by a 27-year-old resident of the village of Stara Mykolaivka.
At that moment, the driver of the “Volkswagen,” exceeding the speed limit, showed negligence by failing to stop the vehicle when danger arose, veering into the oncoming lane and colliding with the “Renault.” As a result of the impact, the crossover veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the van, a 59-year-old resident of the village of Kysorychi, sustained injuries from which he died at the scene.
The driver of the “Volkswagen” was sober at the time of the examination.
In connection with the violation of traffic rules that led to the death of the victim, the investigator has informed the 27-year-old resident of Dubno district of suspicion under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of night house arrest.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal case have been sent to court.
