Yevheniy Kostrenko, born on March 8, 1983, in Rivne, received his education in the specialty of “Mining” at the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources Use.

After his studies, he worked as a technology engineer at the “Rivnetorf” enterprise and also in the energy conservation department of the Rivne Regional State Administration. Throughout his career, he was actively involved in the activities of the peat industry enterprises in the region.
With the onset of the full-scale invasion by Russia, Yevheniy voluntarily approached the territorial recruitment center, but he was mobilized only after six months.
He served in the border troops as a communications unit commander.
“For him, service was always a priority; he responsibly and diligently fulfilled all assigned tasks and cared for the life and health of his personnel. To his comrades, he was a true friend, advisor, and the soul of the company. Yevheniy was motivated by the defense of his home, country, and family. His main goal was to ensure a peaceful sky in the life of his daughter, whom he loved immensely,” said the Defender’s wife.
Unfortunately, 43-year-old Senior Lieutenant Yevheniy Kostrenko passed away on March 8, 2026, in Rivne.
The Defender is survived by his wife, daughter, parents, and a brother who continues to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The farewell to Yevheniy Kostrenko will take place on Thursday, March 12, at 10:00 AM at the Holy Protection Cathedral in Rivne. The serviceman will be buried at the Heroes’ Alley of the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.
