Petro Melnyk, born on June 16, 1984, in the village of Kozlyn in the Rivne region, left a bright mark behind. He studied at local secondary schools and later obtained a qualification as an electrician at the Rivne Vocational Lyceum.

After completing his mandatory military service, Petro Melnyk worked at a fire station. He participated in the defense of his homeland during the anti-terrorist operation, and in 2021 he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, continuing his service amid the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
“Petro was always smiling and helped everyone. He loved animals and took care of them. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and relaxing in nature. His greatest value was his family – he always cared for his loved ones,” shared the memories of the defender’s wife.
Unfortunately, 41-year-old Senior Soldier Petro Melnyk was killed on February 27, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv region.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, parents, and a sister.
The farewell to Petro Melnyk will take place on Saturday, March 7, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral, and the serviceman will be laid to rest at the cemetery in the village of Kozlyn.
