The Rivne football club “Cardinal Avangard” achieved a narrow victory over “Alliance” in the first match of the quarter-finals of the Ukrainian Cup.

The match between “Cardinal Avangard” and “Alliance” was challenging for the hosts. The Rivne team quickly opened the scoring: Dmytro Skibchik, receiving the ball in the left corner of the box, made a cross to Mykyta Kozlyuk, who scored – 1:0!
However, soon “Alliance” equalized. Vitaliy Radevych executed a throw-in, and Bohdan Tokar, shooting from about twelve meters, caught goalkeeper Dmytro Dyachenko by surprise.
The Rivne team regained the lead before halftime: Artem Martynenko made a great pass in stride to Artem Malynovsky, who outplayed goalkeeper Anton Denchuk – 2:1.
In the second half, the hosts had several opportunities to extend their lead but were unable to capitalize on them. Now the fate of advancing to the semi-finals will be decided in the return match, which will take place in Lviv in two weeks.
