In Rivne, a Drunk Driver Caused an Accident at an Intersection

An accident occurred at the intersection of Mytskevych and Prince Volodymyr Streets in Rivne involving Hyundai and Mazda vehicles.

Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene determined that a 48-year-old Hyundai driver failed to maintain a safe distance and consequently collided with the Mazda that was moving ahead.

During communication with the driver, signs of alcohol intoxication were observed, so the inspectors suggested he undergo a breathalyzer test. The test result showed 1.77 promille.

Additionally, the patrol officers found that this individual was deprived of the right to operate vehicles.

Administrative materials were drawn up against the offender:

  • under Article 124 (Violation of traffic rules resulting in an accident) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses;
  • under part 2 of Article 130 (Driving a vehicle while intoxicated repeatedly within a year) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses;
  • part 4 of Article 126 (Driving a vehicle by a person deprived of such a right) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

The vehicle was towed to an impound lot.
