The man has a history of convictions for similar crimes. Most recently, in June 2025, he was sentenced to probation for a period of 2 years.

However, he has not changed and has been held administratively liable three times under Article 173-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
Police established that from July to December of last year, a 52-year-old resident of Rivne constantly inflicted psychological and physical suffering on his 49-year-old wife. In particular, he was often intoxicated, insulted her, threatened her, pushed her, and repeatedly struck her with his hands and feet all over her body.
In connection with the intentional systematic commission of physical and psychological violence against a person with whom the offender is in a family relationship, leading to suffering and deterioration of the victim’s quality of life, the investigator informed the 52-year-old man from Rivne of his suspicion of committing a crime under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have already been sent to court.
The penalty for this article provides for a punishment of up to 2 years of imprisonment.
