Law enforcement officials found that on November 16, around 6 PM, a 42-year-old resident of Berezne and a 51-year-old resident of the village of Horodysche in the Berezne district were drinking alcohol together at the latter’s home.
During the feast, a conflict arose between the men, which escalated into a fight: the guest struck the host in the face with his fist.
In response, the apartment owner used a kitchen knife to inflict at least five blows to the neck, torso, and legs of the 42-year-old man from Berezne. Afterward, he went to his sister, who lives nearby, and told her what had happened. The woman called for medical assistance and the police.
The victim was hospitalized in serious condition in the intensive care unit.
The 51-year-old attacker was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility.
The investigator, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional serious bodily harm). The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
