In Dubrovytsia, a law enforcement officer has been charged with violating traffic safety rules, which led to the death of a cyclist, as well as leaving the victim without assistance in a dangerous state.

According to the investigation, on the evening of January 2, a 23-year-old law enforcement officer, while driving a Toyota Camry under the influence of alcohol, struck a woman riding an electric bicycle in the same direction on the Hordyshche – Rivne – Starokostiantyniv road in the village of Orvianytsia, Sarny district.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver significantly exceeded the speed limit, and the section of the road was well-lit.
As a result of the injuries sustained, the 40-year-old victim died at the scene, and the driver, having made no attempt to provide her with medical assistance, fled the scene of the accident. He was apprehended the following day.
Currently, a decision is being made regarding the selection of a preventive measure for the suspect and his suspension from performing official duties, and necessary examinations have also been appointed.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the third investigative department (located in Rivne) of the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigations, which is based in the city of Khmelnytskyi.
Under the provisions of the article, the suspect faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years, along with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
