Investigators who arrived at the scene determined that the driver of an Opel Vivaro, a 34-year-old resident of the city of Varash, hit a 76-year-old pensioner from Sarny who was crossing the road at an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing.
As a result of the accident, the man sustained multiple injuries, including fractures of his leg, ribs, thoracic vertebrae, and collarbone, and was hospitalized. The driver of the vehicle was sober.
A criminal investigation has been opened regarding the violation of traffic safety rules, and a pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
