A 31-year-old citizen of Romania has been detained and is currently in a temporary detention facility. He faces up to eight years in prison.

On April 21, an 87-year-old resident of the city of Dubno reported a theft of money from his apartment to the police.
Law enforcement officials established that during the afternoon, while returning home, the pensioner encountered an unknown man who offered him a ride. During their conversation, the stranger used cunning tactics, proposing to gift the host a set of cutlery in exchange for a “donation to the church.”
When they entered the apartment, the pensioner became distracted, and the thief seized the moment to steal 67,000 hryvnias and 300 euros, after which he fled.
During the search operations, investigators identified the vehicle used by the criminal. Patrol officers stopped him in Rivne based on the received alert.
Criminalists seized the stolen money and the car that the perpetrator had rented.
The detained individual has already been informed of the charges against him.
