Farewell to Six Heroes Who Died in Battle in Rivne Region

The need for a farewell arose from a DNA test that confirmed the death of Oleksiy Kotsyubailo from the village of Mulchytsi. The serviceman, a 43-year-old gunner of the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, had been missing for over a year. He died on December 22, 2024, during enemy assault operations in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region.

Ruslan Kharkevych, a senior soldier from Dubrovitsa, was drafted into military service on August 8, 2014, due to partial mobilization and served until September 24, 2015. After that, he continued his service under contract in the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of Transcarpathia and in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel. Ruslan received the badge “Participant of ATO” and the Presidential Award of Ukraine “For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation.” Unfortunately, at the age of 51, he passed away due to health issues.

Mykola Kozyrev, who lived in the village of Pyannye in the Ostrozhets community, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 28, 2025, serving as a machine gunner in a special operations unit. He died on January 16, 2026, while performing a combat mission in Donetsk region.

Ivan Babynskyi from the village of Obariv signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in April 2025. Unfortunately, he died on January 4, 2026, during a combat mission in Zaporizhzhia region.

Petro Prokopchuk, who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces in the spring of 2023, served as the head of the psychological support group of the 2nd Tank Battalion. On December 27, 2025, the 31-year-old senior lieutenant was killed in Kharkiv region as a result of an enemy drone strike.

Mykola Datsyuk joined the Armed Forces on May 10, 2024. He initially served at the Tuchyn training ground and later, as part of the 68th Jaeger Brigade, was deployed to Pokrovsk in Donetsk region. Since June 29, 2024, he had been considered missing in action. On January 19, 2026, his family received official confirmation of his death during a combat mission.
