The first laureate of the new regional award is Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valentyn Derelo.

From 2014 to 2022, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation and the Joint Forces operation in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Valentyn Derelo has numerous awards, including those from the leadership of the Joint Forces and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Among his honors are the ‘Cossack Cross’, ‘For Valor and Loyalty’, and others. He is currently actively promoting sports for war veterans and represents Rivne region as part of the Ukrainian team in the international adaptive sports competition ‘Invictus Games’.
It is worth noting that the ‘Klym Savur Cross’ award was established by the Rivne Regional Council this year. The award can be received by representatives of law enforcement agencies, volunteers, and those defending the country. The right to submit nominations for the award, according to the Regulations, is held by village, settlement, city, and district councils, as well as the regional council and the regional state administration.
The deputies decided to award Valentyn Derelo back in September, and today, on the eve of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, celebrated on December 6, the award was presented to him personally.
