A Memorial Plaque for Fallen Defender Roman Mendalyuk Unveiled in Rivne

Today, a solemn ceremony was held to unveil a memorial plaque in honor of the fallen hero – Roman Mendalyuk – on the facade of Rivne Lyceum No. 11.

Roman Mendalyuk, born on January 3, 1984, in the village of Richky in the Korchev region, studied at Rivne Lyceum No. 11. He then continued his education at Vocational Technical School No. 9, where he specialized in “Radio Electronics,” and later deepened his knowledge at the Computer Academy “SHAH.”

Since the onset of the full-scale war, Roman joined the local territorial defense, serving at checkpoints and providing assistance to all in need. In August 2023, he voluntarily enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the 40-year-old soldier, loyal to his military oath and the Ukrainian people, was killed on March 20, 2024, in Donetsk region while fulfilling his duty in the fight for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.

The installation of memorial plaques for fallen defenders at general secondary education institutions in the Rivne community is being implemented as part of the “Rivne – City of Heroes” program.
